Gone With The Wind.

This was on TV this morning/afternoon. All 3hrs 40mins of it. I didn't watch but the TV magazine reviewer reminded me what a great film it is. Saw it many years ago. This film really is from another era and is about an era even before that. Powerful stuff.

Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable are perfectly cast. The film producers interviewed 1400 women to find the right person to play Scarlett O'Hara and Vivien Leigh was discovered. She won an Oscar too.

It is of course a tragedy/love story and I'm too sensitive these days to relive it by watching it all the way through again. But even reading about the film and looking at photos of the actors and actresses brings back powerful emotions.

Funnily enough the director (who also won an Oscar) is Victor Fleming who also directed The Wizard Of Oz in the same year. He finished Wizard and moved onto Gone With.....this guy has directed two of the greatest films ever made.

It is definitely NOT the sort of film that would be made nowadays.

I sometimes think I look like the main actress
