The Source by Ursula James

Hi,
I don't know if I am posting in the right place here so excuse me if it's wrong. (already posted in the book forum) I am an angel girl really, never tried spells and magic, but a number of weird coincidences led me to the book The Source by Ursula James. It's having quite an impact on me. I was just wondering if any of you have read it and what you think?
It will be child's play to all you experienced witches but please see it from my point of view i.e. a complete novice.

Thankyou for reading

Love Kate x

The Source: A Journey to the Heart of Your Own Personal Power; Magical Messages from Mother Shipton-Prophetess, Healer andSeer. By Ursula James.
That book?
She is a ritual working type of Witch. Meaning she uses the Lunar phases and rituals with intent and purpose of bettering her life and those around her.
Now there are other Witches who prefer different ways to weave magick.
I am more of a Pictish Witch I use Cauldron magick and flowers herbs and other types of nature to astablish a recipe for my magickal workings and also some chants or rhyme or song, candles,Petitions, evocations, elementals,Circl e magick, divinations and Familiars,.Some rituals but not much.
Now other witches will use different combinations for different outcomes or just what they prefer or are most comfortable with.
James Randy renowned skeptic did research on Mother Shipton and found no hard facts that she even existed.
I would also like to add her prophecy's seem vague at best. So this is one of those buyer beware type of Author just make sure to take any and all information as an opinion at best until there is scientific fact to back it up.
Here is James Randy's link on Mother Shipton
http://www.randi.org/encyclopedia/Sh...%20Mother.html
I would also like to point out that using mother Shipton as a guide for Urusla is suspicious at best because the legends say Mother Shipton was extremly ugly and draw her as the stereo typical Hag.
I would wish that people stop in my life time thinking of any Witch like this.
This image of a witch is an insult to women in general because during the burning times they would accuse a woman of being a Witch then beat her until her face was green with bruises and break her nose and cut her face up so badly she would look like she had warts due to the flesh of there skin being pulled up by beatings. That is where this image orginated and it is greatly offensive to any woman no matter what there beliefs are. So since they use this stereo typical image it leads me to believe Mother Shipton probably never existed at all.

Mother Shipton's cave - not far from me. I put up a tie to be petrified. Don't know if it's still there

Thankyou for your reply.
What the book says is all very positive anyway. I'd never even contemplated that Mother Shipton was a legend although there can't be smoke with out fire, can there?
Too naive for my own good! Lol

Hmm explain the Easter Bunny then? LOL
Seriously people have been creating made up beings and people for centuries. Take Betsy Ross for instance even though she was a real person there is no proof that she had sewn the American flag.
The Mortans Salt girl was a made up person to advertise salt and so on.
Many reasons to make up these people and what they did. so yes they could have made her up.

Morning Hon ! I think Mother Shipton was both real and legendary. Probably, there was a recluse who lived locally. Doubtful if she actually lived in that cave but the whole area is limestone and riddled with caves.
I envisage her as an eccentric person, reading palms, offering charms and herbal potions, and predicting the future - I think I would get on with her very well, my kind of people
But, as you can see from the official website, the truth [?] has been greatly amplified and turned in a business - relatively harmless for all that.

Alternatively, she was a Hedge Witch !

Legends are tricky ! Think about all the flim-flam surrounding Arthur. King or Romano-British War Band leader ?

@norseman
thats what I think really.
As soon as people realise that there's a money maker all of a sudden it becomes very commercialised. Like the Loch Ness Monster!! lol
There is a passage at the back of the book about Mother Shipton's own story, in her own words. It's a very positive life transformation anyway, if it works.
I am really surprised no one has read it though.

Kate, I am not a big reader of books in this subject. The only ones I bother with are books coming out of British Universities, people like Hutton and Wilby being my favourites.
I was taught everything I know by the Land and the Nature Spirits, and my extensive wanderings in the "wilds" of England, not forgetting of course the Ancestral Spirits.
