But if that is true then when somebody comes into your life and really messes you up with their nasty ! to the extent that it not only devistates your life but it has the ripple effect for years to come do you think that is meant? Are we really meant to be deeply hurt to learn life lessons? Can't we just read the handbook and do the theory part to save the heartbreak?

They might have influenced you to feel badly at that time, but if you suffer for years, it is not them, it is you by replaying the memory in your mind and keeping it alive in your mind and body. EFT really helps with this kind of situation.
As far as lessons, I think the biggest lesson is not to look for love in all the wrong places and by that I mean - from others. The love you really want is within you and you can connect to it at any time. Others will simply reflect it back to you. So enjoy love coming from the other, but do not get addicted to it and forget your own power to connect to it directly. Then you are truly free, and paradoxically-then you can attract a loving relationships as well.
