Candle Flame Reading

Hello,

A lot of my candles, especially when doing candle magick, burn a certain way. What does it mean when a candle burns a certain way? I did a quick search through the Internet. I would like to apply the interpretations here in my own words for others who are keen in learning more about said candle flame reading. I wasn't sure whether pyromancy was the correct term to use for this topic. I like to think of flame reading in working with candle magick determine whether your intentions will come to fruition or still needs more work, often not meant to be. Pyromancy is the act of attempting to tell the future using fire. I assume by gazing through the flames much like mirror gazing and water gazing for divination.

A Clean, Steady and Strong Burn
This indicates a clear spell with much success, your spell or prayer has been sent out successfully and you will receive your answer or wish quickly.

A Slow Weak Burn
Your spell, prayer, or intention needs more work - put more time, energy and effort.

Hissing, Sizzling, Crackling, or Popping
This can indicate a spirit or ancestor trying to work with you. It can also mean spirit is responding to a message from you.

An Unsteady, Jumping, Sputtering or Flickering Flame
There's resistance against you. Put more willpower and energy into your intention. If your spell is directed at someone, he or she could be picking up on it and will work against it. The higher the jumping flame, the more resistance there is.

Puff of White Smoke
Good sign. Your intentions were heard and will be granted.

Puffs of Black Smoke
Something or somebody is working against you. Negative energies might be being fought and purged.

Vanishing Flame
Your intent wasn't clear or spirit in question does not agree with your motives.

Relighting Flame
Your intention is still being considered. Work needs to be done. Focus.

The Candle Doesn't Burn At All
Cleansing needs to be done. Cleanse your room and yourself of negative energies.

Burning Only On One Side
Expect partial response or incomplete spell.

Burning With Multiple Flames
Someone is working alongside you or against you.

The Candle Explodes and/or Catches Something On Fire
Someone is attacking you or the person you're attacking is protected from harm and the spell has been reflected back at you.

Cool thread & information. I don't use fortune telling with candles, but I most definitely pay attention to the flame, just gazing into the subtle fire is an experience on it's own.

Same here. I would stare at the flame until I am in a trance state of mind which is typically done when doing pyromancy. I stare to focus.

I have a WoodWick candle on my altar that crackles as it burns. Very relaxing sound with a pleasant evergreen scent.
