Heal self to heal others?

Hi friends,
There is a famous saying: as above, so below, as within, so without.
u dont need to fix the world the outside, u need to focus on within, the spirit guide also told us we need to look within, for instance if u want to heal your friend your cat, u need to find a place a vision inside yourself, and if u work well with that inner vision u heal that one, the outside friend and cat will be healed too, .......
how do u think of this?

so,it actually means, the friend the cat is part of your inner self, if u heal self, u heal the others...?

The more healthy and healed i feel, the less desire there is to help others.

The more hurt i feel, the stronger the desire to help others who feel similar. There is a greater feeling of compassion seeing others hurt when hurting myself. Though i wouldn't want to get too caught up in helping others to avoid facing my own hurt. Even helping can be an escape from dealing with your own hurt. Often we are hurting without even realizing it.

Heal self and the desire to heal others fade, is another way of looking at it.

ocean breeze, with respect, your position sounds 'immature' to my ears.
it suggests that you only care for the welfare of others if you are sick, and
that when you are well, you have no concern for others. you are, of course,
free to make such a determination, equating your wellness with disengaging
from the collective whole of humanity... but then, why have you manifested
into this collective reality?
peace

It doesn't imply i don't care when i'm well. Just that the desire to help is greater when the relating is intensified.

20 yrs of focusing on everyone else life problems and avoiding my own I can say personally when I have issues I usually seek to help others. This was my way of ignoring myself honestly.

The more healthy I am the more I welcome helping who I can but I'm not seeking it out like I would before. It shows up. I react try to help any way I can.
These days it seems I'm being placed in front of incredibly stubborn people.

I'll have to try this and see how it works. Love the idea of doing the healing in my head. Opposed to trying to get others heal themselves. Maybe combine the two.

Hello all. I am thinking that there may be a case here to suggest that cause and consequence can become muddled.
One way to look at connection is that coming to the help of others both keeps you well and also helps healing if you need it.--even if you are not aware that you do need it---Self satisfaction can also get you in a muddle because you loose sight and connection with the whole.
All good wishes. Interesting post to be part of. Thanks. petex

Yes, you seem to grasp what i'm saying. Many times i don't feel any need to intervene and let people sort out their own problems. Depending on the situation of course. If they ask and i feel i can help, absolutely.

what you've said here is not at all what you'd said earlier.
i don't sense myself having any "need to intervene", and i could allow you to
"sort out your own problems"... ESPECIALLY since i'm fairly certain that you'll
react defensively to any suggestions of assistance i might offer... yet i'm
willing to to make the effort in good faith.

you had said: "The more healthy and healed i feel, the less desire there is to
help others." is this different than saying that when you are in a healthy state
you have no inclination to help people? the healthy/whole you has no interest
in aiding those who may be in need? you've not said that you've become
unaware of hurting people, only that you sense no desire to be helpful.
i suggest that a disinterest in the suffering of others is not a healthy state
of mind, and what you've come to believe is "healthy", for yourself, is not
actually healthy for you. i suggest that "the desire to heal others" is not
something that you'll want to 'heal' yourself of.
