I meditate for one reason, and one reason only. To achieve inner peace. This inner peace starts with my mind, with the quieting of my thoughts. I reach a point where I can view my thoughts without attachment, and allow my mind a clear Blue Sky of openness. It is from this place of peace that I connect spirit to spirit with All That Is. What is shared between us is often without words, and resides in the deep core of my very essence.

I would imagine that the answer to the original posters question would be largely contingent on the "Why" of each person's personal practice.

If - as in my own case - PEACE is the objective, then naturally falling into deep rest would not be a bad thing at all. It would be the natural progression (perhaps a very quick progression!) of someone who is already walking in a deep level of inner serenity.

I think there is a 'right'way to meditate, but each comes to it on his/her own path.

IMO, it IS 'us' talking to 'ourselves'...they are thoughts...but they are more than just thought...thought-forms, if you will.

Thanks, Jaycee. Message received.
