You asked why alcohol is called spirits. Seems no one knows for sure.

You might enjoy this read. It's brief. http://www.drinkinginamerica.com/why...iquor-spirits/

I love my vodka. We keep it in the fridge so it stays nice and cold.

Thanks for posting link linen53, I liked this bit "3. The word al-ghawl is the origin of the English word “ghoul.” “Ghoul” is another word for “spirit.” Get it?" :-)

Chilled vodka, do you mix it or have it neat?

Neat. I love vodka and oj but I don't need the extra calories. Chilled, neat is good. We use Tito's vodka. It's mid priced and smooth. And it is one of the few vodkas that isn't made out of corn. I believe they use potatoes instead.

Vodka and oj is nice. They sell your Tito's make in the UK too by the looks of it! If I think on I'll price it up. I bet it's way more expensive here!

I might be missing something, but I was never aware of alcohol being refered to as spirits. Not here at least.

On top of that, I usually have quite some beers during the weekends. Strangely it doesn't really alter my behavior, except somewhat decreasing my social anxieties. I suppose alcohol is good for some people, but not for those who can't deal with it.

I forgot about liquor being used for the stronger alcohol in the US. In the UK it's spirits.

I agree about it decreasing anxiety. Getting up and having a dance I was definitely less self conscious.

Hi Slayer! I like your avatar btw. I had you pictured just about what you actually look like.

I think alcohol consumption is a personal thing. I drink my vodka daily (in the evenings). Some might consider me an alcoholic. I do not. I enjoy the ride. As with all things, in moderation.

Well I'm from the Netherlands, they usually call it liquor here as well.

Thanks. To be honest that picture is from a while ago when I was 17 (although I haven't changed much). The person who took it is no longer alive, so the picture has a special meaning to me.
