A playlist of mine, for anyone who wants to listen.
Best used for nighttime brooding and lounging around. Hope some of you like it! Listen here: (It's mostly instrumental/neoclassical, with a moody and dreamy feel.) : https://soundcloud.com/dispatchesfro...amyanddolorous

Hmm, I'll have to see the movie your link is from. And your link made me think of the American Beauty theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqUwDI_bV-U (this could likely continue on forever, you know)

that seems optimistic, lol.
the very beginning of the American Beauty link made me
think of Aliens, since they're both so quiet and slow to start.
i then had a tune come to mind, but it froze up at 6 notes, and i can't
jog my memory as to what the tune is. so...

I'm listening to the first song on your playlist "The Gravel Road"...I really love violin/piano music like this...
Are you familiar with the metal band Kamelot? Some of there songs are brooding/lamenting...Here are a few songs that come mind...
" The Haunting"
"Solitaire/Rule the World"
I also like " Ghost Opera" "The Human Stain"
Another album called "Poetry for the Poisoned" I really like " So Long" (this is about vampires, LOL)
I really like this one of their "Silverthorn" album: Sacrimony Angel of Afterlife
Their newest album (Haven) has a lot of brooding type songs:
Insomnia
Veil of Elysium
Anyway, if you can't tell I am a big Kamelot geek, xP

Kamelot!!!!! Somnia, that's SO strange that you'd mention Kamelot. Just the other day I was listening to their song "Descent of the Archangel" on repeat because it had been a favorite of mine in high school!
So yes, I am fond of them. Not sure what genre they'd be... Broody melodramatic power metal? Whatever it is, it's quite an enjoyable genre. Anyway, thank you for all the links! They sort of remind me of some similar-ish bands, like Epica and Within Temptation. Oh!!! And Iced Earth. Haven't listened to them in ages; I'm sure they've changed since then. But yes, it is the perfect music to listen to in the dark with enough candles and incense for your room to be a huge fire hazard.
(I suppose this is now the unofficial Moody Broody Music thread)

Aliens! I approve.
Hmmm.. the wailing strings instantly made me think of this (Pan's Labyrinth theme) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JktNRlNTfMs
(also, every time I see your avatar I initially mistakenly think it's from The Outer Limits or Twilight Zone even though I'm fairy sure it's not)
