On a day of a horse show, my horse "told" me his joints were stiff.

He didn't literally speak in my mind, but I made eye contact with him. I could feel an urge telling me in the back of my mind that he was sore. So I grabbed some liniment and slathered some onto his knees and hocks. Afterward, he was moving a lot easier. (I wasn't riding him, but I could tell the difference before and after. I could also "hear" him thanking me for it)

I was also riding him bareback one day, and I wanted him to move in a specific gait (loping/cantering) I gathered up my reins and, before I could kiss to him, nudge him with my foot or do anything, I thought the word in my head. He immediately launched into it.
