The Unattainable
He's gazing but I hear him anyway
'turn around'
so I do, to see him there with a grin
I exchange his pleasant and charming grin with a smile of acknowledgement
I feel him behind me, I know he's there
As I turn back around to continue walking away
I turn again, yes he's there, closer
smiles of such warmth
But why, what does this warmth want
As he comes closer I feel his curiosity
I speak
Interruption of another disrupts the energy
He pulls away,
he knows he shouldn't connect
and I recognize the que to end.
The tugging is bugging. What did that warmth want.
Possibly what it can't have.
I turn back around. This time for the last time.
I must go.
