Try to love yourself is a great way.
I know it's a long journey to love yourself, as I've already been through this issue so many times. but if you keep trying, you will succeed.
Embrace yourself. I'm sure you will have something that makes you proud of.
Friends and Family are also great sources of help. Go on and talk to them. :)

No, I think she's just jesting.. I wouldn't actually suggest that, haha. Because you're basically just inversing your problem (you think you're not that great, which means you think others are greater). The only good repeating that will be for will be for becoming arrogant. It's still an inferiority complex though. "Don't shine by putting out others light, just shine". :) |

In the op a break up or rejection was mentioned....
As you all probably know from all the advice from Abraham-Hicks all over...
When we feel hopeless and powerless...it is a very low place
on the "Emotional Scale".
We can't just leap from despair immediately to joy.
So incrementally we can begin by getting our power back by being angry.
Anger feels a lot better than helplessness, right?
So when we say... They are stupid for dumping me
or they are stupid for rejecting my business proposal....it gives us a sense of power again....
thus, yes it does work....and then we get clearer and clearer and
go up that Emotional Scale to happiness and freedom! 
I am wonderful and people love me....those that don't are stupid.
And I move on from them wishing them well.Hahaha.
Be around those that adore you, and oh so, appreciate you!
