Pagans in prisons [ UK ]

IN my morning newspaper.
Pagan inmates are calling for a change to rules that ban them from praying naked. Under current guidelines, they are only allowed to wear a hoodless robe. But one prisoner in HMP Wandsworth in South London said he "had a right" to strip off for prayers - known as Skyclad - and cover his windows so he doesn't offend.
The Ministry of Justice says all religions, including Paganism, must be catered for.

If it's in his own cell I see no issue with this personally.

Long as you keep it personal and not rub it others face.

Ah...freedom. TBH...prison of course comes with certain restrictions to worshipping in certain places (no hajj, no easter in jersalem, no dancing in the forest skyclad with the ladies to celebrate the solstice)...but I think most would agree prayer should certainly be accomodated.

As long as the inmate accepts, skyclad or no, that he must draw down the moon and similar by himself !

Peace & blessings,

If my version of prayer isn't suitable, I'll change it. However, I personally wouldn't care if someone went skyclad and prayed in my cell and I think anyone who did have a problem with that would have to give me a good reason. I don't see why there should be policy for or against it.

Since when is being skyclad a requirement for prayer in any branch of Paganism?
I know its optional for some rituals in Wiccan paths but hardly necessary on a daily basis. There tends to be a lot of overcrowding in prisons now and inmates are crowded into cells, many sleeping on the floor. Its unrealistic to expect 6 to 8 cellmates to be enthusiastic about your naked cavorting in a tiny room.
The beautiful thing about paganism is its fluidity and the ability of its practicioners to adapt to and utilise their surroundings...So to demand hard and fast conditions to practice in dosn't really make much sense.
