Why is there evil?

In Spiritual Forums > Paranormal & Supernatural > General Paranormal there is a thread titled "Satan and his demons". I posted there and near the end of my post I wondered if there was a purpose for evil.

So I am wondering if anyone here has made a post about why we have evil? If you have could you provide a link I can copy and paste to the thread so others can read it if they wanted to?

Thanks

I would argue that there really isn't evil.

There is ignorance, pain, misfortune, horrific acts, cruelty, and many other hurtful and sad things... but I would still argue that evil doesn't really exist.

In my opinion, people who some might consider evil, are just people with something inside they cannot bear to face, which gnaws at their soul, and warps there ego/personality.

There is evil so that there is good. How would we know what is good if we did not know what was evil?

I recommend you read a book called "A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles" by Marianne Williamson. The book has sold over three million copies, it's a fantastic book.

In the book Marianne argues, quite excellently, that love is the only thing that is real. Everything else is merely an illusion we create in our mind to satisfy the ego.

There are those who are closer to the light and those who are further away from the light. We are all in transition.

Without the dark you would not appreciate the light.

Excellent!!
Please, read this book, one and all. I find it in Used Stores often and give it away.
It is so well written! Much much clarity and wisdom.

1. FREE WILL

2. the masculine drive - to descend (FROM spirit to matter)- control, create/build material security, differentiate, defend, acquire - which imbalanced (lack of drive to ascend) becomes indiscriminate consumption, destruction, defensive oppression--

- and is always expressed by "the opposing consciousness" of current nomenclature as self-love (when, without service to others & love of others will tend to be....) in the direction of facing darkness --

- imbalanced/uncorrected by the feminine drive to face light and ascend (out of matter) -

- as expressed by desires to find unity with others, to trust, to be vulnerable, to follow, to nurture, self-sacrifice (service to others), to submit -
(and which imbalanced by lack of masculine drive has its own problems - eg, inertia, apathy, amotivation, infantile self-centeredness, lack of self-love.)

Free will is fraught with a lack of balance, naturally.
