also agreeing with it being "to the detriment....." because it isn't "spiritual" in itself. It's almost always about material and acquisition, or bringing another person/persons under ones control.
It's more a variant on "affirmation" which is about focus and determination. If you set your mind to do or be something then your chances of doing/being it increase - it helps someone to develop single-mindedness enough to achieve that aim. But it is no magic spell.
LOA sometimes appears to work if the demands are small and practical in the person's sphere. To take extreme examples - if someone wants to become an eagle, no way will LOA or any other magical practice achieve that. But if someone wants to put on weight or lose it or become more attractive it may work....if they're persistent enough.
As far as I can see, LOA has been "sold" to the gullible. It isn't properly a law because a) it's unpredictable and b) the starting conditions might not exist. But it does make a lot of money for a few people running workshops and selling books.
You might get your car at the price you want if you assure yourself that your bargaining power is strong. That takes affirmation supplemented by visualising it happening.
It's an old adage - "I can't achieves nothing. I can works wonders.
I will works miracles!"
Good luck with it.
