Yummy recipe! Thank you for posting it.
The tie-in with the spiritual forum, in this case, is that good food is truly Divine. :)

We are more and other than what we appear as, "here".

Odd that you would point to the Reptilian Brain and suggest that that's what defines "here" as. On that count you need to include not only the Reptilian brain but also the Limbic system (mammalian brain) and the Neocortex (the "thinking" brain) into this equation. All three part of our brains, in this order, evolved over time in a way that utilizes the values of each one.

And yes, they are tuned into responsiveness patterns to the "here" and now. Where else would they be responsively tuned to? They can be influenced by our "thoughts" about the past and the present, but the biological responsiveness will be in the real-time mode, for the "here" and now is the only place that you'll ever be interactively aware of.

You're not connecting with this objectively, however, "organic".
Takes time and meditaton.

Look up sites on the subject matter, and you will see how the reptilian brain is described as the oldest, and therefore most dominant part of our neurology.
Most basic.

Sure, with our later developed areas, we can reason in remarkable manner and acomplish much in the way good. Along with our thumbs.
But, the oldest part of our brain is related and connected with the survival instinct, and also Ego.

Now, regarding survival? Religion and other indications inform us that we "survive", past this "maya"... in illusory "space/time".
But mainly due to the oldest part of our neuro-anatomy?
We don't really believe it. - That is, most don't.
And, especially the atheist.

This is why, there has never been longstanding peace on the globe, and why we see all the conflict and the violence that we do.
Think about what most will do to save, "their skin".

The consequences of that in, "the world".

As well as the consequences, and downsides of Ego. Every day, and in the News.
