I was just about to post the same thing!
When we look at forgiveness, we look at Christ bleeding on the Cross and that is what makes us forgive others. On the Cross, Jesus paid for all sin with His Blood, as He was sent to us by the Father because of His love for us.
When we choose not to forgive others sins, we stand in direct opposition to Gods love and sacrifice through His Son, and hold on to the power of sin for our own sakes. satan does not forgive because that is where his power lies.
Let us remember that Christ lives in all of us, and to not forgive is to transgress against Christ. We must remember that all our spirits are contained in Christ as one, and to not forgive is to oppose that oness.

Because someone else was steering the theme, and not me just pursuing my own interests, I was able to examine where I fell short in this Christian ideal, I listed the people I hadn't forgiven, and I acknowledged to myself that I was incapable of forgiving these people.
But at the same time Christianity says that the Holy Spirit can help me do what I cannot do. Thus I can give over to this promise of the Holy Spirit, to overcome my ego, my lack of forgiveness, my sin, which I cannot overcome myself. I cannot, but the Holy Spirit can.
I'm not saying I've managed it yet, but it does sound like a productive path to me.

John 14:26
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Surrender and the Holy Spirit will teach you everything!
