LOL at Die Hard and Vacation. You just named the epitome of American movies. :)

I'm pretty sure I saw the original Exorcist when I was a kid only because everyone was talking about it. I greatly preferred the comedy spoof of that though which was called Scary Movie 2. I've never heard of The Exorcism.

Horror is my least favorite genre and I refuse to watch most horror movies. I also dislike most animation movies. Comedy is probably my most favorite. I loved the Vacation movies. Some other genres I like are:

Family
Surfing
Fantasy
Romance
Thriller/Action (sometimes)

To be honest though it really depends on the film. I hated the comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby for instance.

Some of my favorites are Clueless, Blue Crush, The Princess Bride, Harry Potter, Stardust, The Matrix, A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas, Back to the Future, The Time Travelers Wife, Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Groundhog Day, and many more.

I loved The Conjuring, but I think Exorcism Of Emily Rose was horrible. It was on TV today and I didn't watch it. I saw it in theater when it came out and was hugely disappointed in it.

Psychological Thrillers in specific.

These are movies which typically deliver a mind-boggling twist somewhere in the later parts of the story.

Chris Nolan movies like Memento, The Prestige, etc. fall in this category.

Some other amazing movies here are See Jane Run, Primer (also a time travel movie) and recently The Girl on The Train.
