As one who has read Tom Harpur's "The Pagan Christ" at least thrice over, I can say in speaking on behalf of myself that it is quite readable. It's right up there with James Frazer's "The Golden Bough."

Bill Maher in the documentary, "Religulous" (2008) also mentions the Horus-Orsiris-Christ connection. It is a fairly obvious and convincing one to anyone that researches this material with a critical yet open mind.

Although I favor "The Pagan Christ" theory more than any other relating to the character of Christ Jesus, the theory that has Christ removing himself from off the cross and eloping with Mary Magdalene, and fathering a bloodline that some believe exists even to this day, is also a persuasive one and one that I would have no problem accepting if proven to be true.

As for other good books of this nature, I enjoyed Lloyd Graham's classic "Deceptions And Myths Of The Bible," which is an excellent read but one that is considered by some to be too arcane.
