Other than the possibility of ending the game prematurely, would it make a difference if the host didn't know what curtain the car was behind?

if the host didn't know, then everyone would be surprised when the car is revealed

It's all in the phrase "so as not to end the game prematurely". After
I choose #1 , he opens #3 , and there's no car, and the game has not ended 'prematurely' . Since the car is not behind #3, if he had opened #2 instead and the car was there , the game would be over "prematurely" .
If the car was in 1 , he wouldn't open 1 first , or the game would be over
"prematurely " . So the car is in #2 .

Dar,
I've read your reply several times, and I just don't see how your expaination regarding the phrase "so as not to end the game prematurely" has any impact on why you should switch from curtain #1 to curtain #2.
You say that "If the car was in 1 , he wouldn't open 1 first..."
Of course not, nor would he open it if it wasn't behind #1.

It can only last two moves , regardless, and it has to last two, or it ends in one , prematurely.
If I choose one and he opens 2 and there's no car, I switch to 3 .
If I choose 3 and he opens 2 , I switch to one.
It's about switching to the one that you didn't choose that didn't get opened , because the other scenarios would have ended in it ending in one or me losing.
I think that's how it goes. |
