Energy Bursts

I wasn't sure where to put this in the forum so I will start here. I have a couple of questions to float out there to all of you.
I worked the graveyard shift last night and was in my normal routine of mental spelunking and over the XM radio they broadcast the emergency tones. No explanation before or after. This has happened many times but maybe it is a routine test. It was a long steady tone, then 3-4 screechers, then static for about 5-10 secs. Then the music sprang back to life. No message or "this is a test" prompt. About 10 mins later I could have swore I got some weird metallic taste in my mouth but at that point anything that happened "is something" in my head.
Anyhooo, I let it pass and started thinking about the solar system (a favorite dwelling while driving mystery to me). At 3:26am I got a huge blast of energy that made me feel almost nauseous. I have had this same feeling a few times before. If you have been part of a 4.5 earthquake, it is a fairly close description. Not so much the shaking but the inertia or vertigo feeling. My body has been adapted to the swaying motion due to my job so I am used to it but this was a lot more. I thought it may be an earthquake but I have not had the time to check.
Does anyone know more about the broadcasts or maybe about solar energy spikes that may cause these things.
