The soul never forgets, spirit, that part of your spiritual structure that is attached to the body is veiled, yes.
There are several theories how the veil cam about.
My understanding is very simple, how can you experience separation when you can see clearly the Oneness? How can you learn unconditional love from a limited perspective when you can see how you are surrounded by it.
How can you choose between the light and the dark when you surrounded by the light, you came from the light and by 99.99% will follow the light.
Yes, the dark has manipulated the veil to serve themselves to a degree, but in the end they can never succeed.

The Afterlife happens for most of us on the Astral Planes.
The Astral Planes are located in the Sphere of Yesod.
The sphere of Yesod (Hebrew = Yesod = Foundation) is the sphere on the next level in the Tree of Life.
The Tree of Life is the Hebrew Kabbalistic concept of our Multiverse = Multi-dimensional reality = aka the "Heavens".

If you study the Tree of Life you will understand the "Heavens" as the Old Testament is heavily influenced by this concept.

Once we are done with our Karmic Debt and learning here, we can ascend from here beyond Yesod to the higher realms, Hod, Netzach Tipheret -> Kether.

Until then we will remain in the Astral planes and keep returning here until we have a Soul Awakening.

No faith at all.
I am just a keen observer. I observe my own experiences and take what everybody else says with a grain of salt (and that's an understatement).
I am not convinced one way or the other. I cannot seem to make my mind up and don't want to.
At the end of the day, if there is no afterlife, it means it was all about enjoying the ride in this life. And since I failed miserably at this, if there is an after life, I then hope someone, somehow, will one day tell me where it all went wrong for me.
I do not expect anything, I do not hope for anything and I am not sure I care, although I keep a healthy dose of curiosity and an open mind.
What will be will be.

I remember the Spirit world. Also played with a couple when I was very young, that no one else saw. When I was a teenager I saw pictures of them and learned they were my great grandparents who had transitioned years before I was born.
The night my mother transitioned, I saw spirits all around me rejoicing her homecoming.
The Spirit World is more real than our lifetimes in the material IMO.

I became convinced of the paranormal and life after death from the overwhelming cumulative weight of much evidence not popular in mainstream academia where most people get there grounding.

Start with Viktor Zammit's Afterlife website (google it), I'd give you the link but I need 15 posts before I can post links.
