Can you make your own runes?

Just wondered if runes needed to be a special type of wood thanks for help

Runes don't have to be made of wood, they can also be made of stones. I don't think there is a requirement for a special kind of wood, whatever wood you have or feel drawn to should be just fine . Have fun making them !

I actually made mine from an oak tree which lost a branch. I wood burned the symbols in and am very very happy with them. They are my most powerful divination tool in the tool box.

I also have a special relationship with that oak tree, even more so after the runes were made from it.
It's like a part of it went on to be of often profound help to other people and I think it knows it.

Hi Luna, I asked for a branch from a tree I am drawn to. The next day I found a perfect branch under it. I wanted to make a wand, however I do believe this will work for making runes from too. I was told that Rowan wood is the best for making tools from because of it's properties. But where I live, Rowan wood would have to be imported. So as CrystalSong said she used, Oak would be my next choice too.

I made the runes today :-) its a special day being the 21st and all that

used old oak from a branch found in the woods ask gaia if i could take it

since it was still stuck to the tree :-)

the woods looked and felt like paradise with all the energies and light

made the runes when i came home

i write 'came home' :-) :-) so silly to say that ;-)

I made my Runes out of some beautiful stones I found in my yard. They were all the same, sitting together like an invisible tide pool had dried up in a stump. They are all smooth and round, great energy.
