advice wanted
I'm in the US. I've yet to visit a temple. I've been sent signs, feeling a tug, and researching a bit regarding Buddhism for awhile now. I recently too discovered, yet another sign, a Vietnamese Buddhist temple that I've driven by a few times while visiting others. The large golden statue outside is interesting. I want to go inside but not just to stand there or appear like a museum gawker.
I'm not around any other Earthly humans that aren't of another religion, would be open to it, and/or mindful of the practices and experience. I don't just want to stand there alone. I can do my own thing here. I though feel so drawn lately that something may happen even during my first visit.
I'm open to all advice, ideas, etc.

You should look up Goenka Vipassana meditation centers. Anyone of any religion can come to meditate and their are many centers all over the U.S. They are very helpful and will only guide you in your spiritual growth and ascension.

Lots of temples and retreat centres. I am sure that they would welcome you to the Vietnamese temple! I would go in..

thanks
I believe I will visit the Vietnamese one. It's nearby and perhaps it is a sign. I have felt drawn to Buddhism lately and this one may be calling to me.
I just don't want to let completely go of a creator, let everything and everyone go, and spend the majority of my journey alone. Hinduism seems similar to Buddhism but without the issues I have though I'm drawn toward B and away from H.
I see impermanence as a relief and not a reason to not care about people and things as much. That's not to say I'm a selfish over-consumer but I still want enjoyment and care about people. I believe it should be more of a balance. I saw Siddhartha played out and I interpreted the balance scene to mean that it doesn't have to be all or nothing just to not obsess or dwell on things. These teachings are also in other religions.
