Whirlpooling
Have you ever experienced this in the astral? It happened to me a couple of times prior to being fully aware of astral body-I believe the astral usually floats a few feet above physical and some force will sometimes whack it sending it spinning

The astral body spins down into the physical and you wake up

I like the way you describe it - whirlpooling.
I occasionally get the 'slam' back into the body with a jolt (it's a bit shocking, tbh) usually when I'm drifting and almost/just asleep. It doesn't feel like a whirlpool, though. Is that what you mean, or is it something different?

I think I get the slam but the whirlpool effect was a rare occurence-I have read and believe that the astral often lies parallel a few feet above physical and the whirlpooling I think was caused by a strong external force hitting it -

Although it could be caused by the tug of the physical but it didn't feel familiar that way

Interesting. I'm going to try to be more aware when this kind of thing happens.
One other thing that happens to me is a sort of slow zooming to full waking consciousness. This is usually from a lucid dream. There is a scene in Trainspotting where Renton is in hospital and they've given him an injection to 'wake him up'. It shows him rising from a 'coffin' (the hospital trolley), getting ever faster, louder and clearer as he eventually opens his eyes.
It's similar to that - sometimes it can be in really slow motion and I can manage to stop it before it gets going - usually by grabbing hold of something/someone in the dream. When it's very slow, the whole scene that I'm in starts to dissolve with hearing going first followed by vision. Occasionally, I've called out mentally in the blackness and put my dream (astral) hand out for someone to grab it and pull me back in. This has worked on occasion and when back in the dream scene I have renewed lucidity (usually not for long before waking up properly).
I tend to get the sound of 'zzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ' and then silence as I'm fully awake.
