feel sick

Every time I get a massage I feel rather ill and not connected to anything. For example, I could walk out with my underwear on the outside of my jeans. Not that I've done this, yet the feeling after a massage is one of being extremely intoxicated I almost don't know what I'm doing. My head feels as if on another planet which not only leaves me feeling physically I'll, but also headachy.

Should I stop? I was hoping things would improve after a few goes.

Massages also make me sick....one would think it's crazy, but it's true.
My very first massage was a gift for my 18th birthday by a friend who worked at a casino spa...imagine the excitement! The package also included a free solarium session....I got to wear those little thingy cones for the sensitive areas..haha
Anyway, the tiniest framed woman I had ever seen gave me the most painful massage ever! She cracked every bone in my body.
The whole time I wondered where did all that strength come from :O
After it was over and I sighed a sigh of relief, the migraine and nausea came on. It actually took a few days to recover from this horrible experience.

I thought, never again!
The other day, I made the mistake of giving my husband a rolling pin and had him massage ( roll, lol) up and down my back and tense shoulder muscles, and bam! full blown migraine accompanied by nausea.
Wonder if I'll ever learn my lesson!

Do you have a period of withdrawal from the world, rest, just lying still and assimilating the energy shifts -after your massage? Or if not lying still, then spending some time alone sitting or walking gently in a garden or natural outside space?
And drinking a mild herb tea or water only for a few hours...
That might be a wise idea.

Or do you just come out of it and try to carry on with everyday life?

There are big energy shifts with this kind of thing. You will feel un-'earthed' for a short time.

Next time you have a session, plan it on a day when you can just rest. Some practitioners will do home visits which is helpful.

This could be probably the mobilization of toxins into circulation, which will be increase by the actual massage. Are body stores of fat, contain a higher amount of toxins in them compared to a circulation (This is a safety mechanism of our body). The body can store toxins which it can't expel of from our environment or diet within fat stores instead of it accumulating in organs and going around in our circulation. And its possible with all that rubbing, upon your body may be in some way mobilizing some toxins from fat. Or Octy your Lymphatic system which is like a giant sewer system within the human body, because of the massage might be getting activated. You see unlike the circulation system which carries primarily blood and is pumped around your body with the action of the heart. The Lymphatic system is primarily stimulated by body movement, such as exercise and potentially massage. And because the lymphatic systems job is to get rid of toxins and metabolic waste, and transport it around the body to detoxification organs.......once this system is stimulated you may feel uncomfortable. Any sort of mobilization of toxins in great amounts will cause you discomfort, maybe you should drink some sort of herbal liver assistance just to help your detoxification organs to process and eliminate toxins after massage.

There is actually a special kind of massage called Lymphatic Drainage.

Or you can get one of these to, exercise on after massage or before.

Im trained in massage. As the other said its due to the release of toxins which the massage is helping free out.

This issue can probably be prevented by having a glass of water before your massage and a glass of water after it to help flush those toxins out.

I always used to get my massage clients to drink a glass of water after I gave a massage.

If that don't work, have massages done for less time or less deep tissue massage done but I suggest to not stop having massages as if you are getting this reaction you are needing them to help your body clear stuff out.

I am a LMT, and I am thinking the headaches are probably caused by the massage causing the blood vessels to constrict from the increased flow. I would also think maybe dehydration might play a role here also. Give yourself time after the massage to readjust, sit at the edge of the table before you stand, even ask if you can lay there for a couple of minutes. I always tell my clients to take their time when we are finished with the session. (I know in some places, their next client is already waiting, so this might be a bit more difficult.) Also keep looking around until you find a massage therapist that has the right pressure for you and performs a very relaxing massage that you love. Try bringing some saltine crackers or a protein bar with you to eat at the end of the session.

I hate massages! Always have, since I was a child. A well-educated massage therapist will admit that massage just isn't for everyone and that it does make some people sick. In my case, it's extremely painful, and has been since childhood. I don't even find the idea of massage pleasant.

Not everything works for everyone, which is why the world is so abundant in healing tools and methods.
