Meditation
What is meditation?
IMHO meditation is a journey beyond the mind and nervious system. It is not an accident that the chakras are parallel to the spin. I personally feel it is important for us to share certain messages we recieve from meditation. Although most of what is revealed is relative to the receiver.
The soul is not capable of lying, meditation is communication of spirit and soul.
There are many people here at SF who can provide you with a more discriptive view on meditation. I'm sure there is so much to be shared on this subject, I like to keep things simple.
Love to all

Greetings..
It has been my experience that meditation is to "still the mind".. to quiet the little voice that we talk to ourselves with ("thinking").. i mean, really, we are talking to ourselves.. we already know what we are going to say and how we will reply.. in the quietness of not thinking, we allow experiences to by-pass the filter of mental chatter and prejudice.. we have a direct spiritual experience based on the clarity afforded by the "still mind".. in thought we are either considering past events, or predicting future possibilities.. often, we are considering the most recent past experience, such that the current experience is muted by our inattention, then.. we have to consider that experience in its past and muted perspective, a vicious circle.. meditation is being present and fully aware of life as it unfolds..
Be well..

Being aware of our own existence as beings of light immortal energy and experiencing the pure original personality and quality's which lie at the essence of it.

Hi Al: I think that what you have described is the "goal" of meditation.. that technically, meditation is the process we use to get there.. generally, we have similar goals, but.. many ways (meditations) to get there.. and, many of the "meditations" popular today are more detrimental than beneficial.. meditations that ask us to do something, like: visualize, affirm, chant, etc.. occupy the mind beyond the point of "stillness".. they become a distraction to the experiences unfolding in the present moment.. There is only NOW, and in a very insightful phrase, "BE HERE NOW"..
Be well..
