you are just making things harder to see (strengthening the veil), because when you say useful and useless in an attempt to circumvent the good/evil discussion, you implicitly mean useful is good and useless is bad.

Agreed. How can one deny a natural autonomous self-defense protocol geared toward promoting self-preservation? Honestly, individuals teaching others to dissolve ego results in pinning the self against the self creating a vast array conflicts and overlapping internal progamming. A house divided cannot stand and it seems that these schools of thought were likely conceived to further disillusion white siders, promote physiological detriment, and spiritual negation. It is only when the self accepts the self that the individual is can be at harmony with itself and capable of achieving a state of Samadhi. Simply put stop trying to be what your not and accept who you are. After all, it's only human :)

Oh and David Hawking created a diagram loosely mapping various states of consciousness that illustrates the acceptance as self as only the first level of consciousness that even permits access to the finer realms of being. If you haven't peeped it yet I recommend taking a gander it is known as the scale of consciousness.

Well my ego isn't very big, but I am extremely protective over the little bit of ego that I have left and as such there are some things I would never give myself into. I don't think having a bit of an ego is that bad though, as long it doesn't bring out your worst traits.

I-verse is an unfolding scenario of self/ego, that, we attempt to guide, within a greater unfolding environment of many other unfolding selves/egos.

Humana-verse is the sum total of all the individual I-verse's.

Humus =
the organic component of soil, formed by the decomposition of leaves and other plant material by soil microorganisms.

Mana =
the power of the elemental forces of nature embodied in an object or person

They Call Me Gem
Rybo6 alias OS-jbug

perhaps a diamond in the dip
casting Rubies onto the road
pearls from the sea
silica out of quartz
cyrstaline tears
protein bells
photo-pops
pie in the sky?

or,

a sandstone humus
combing my terra-cognitive
loosening the pebbles in my brain
absorbing the fungus among-us
feasting on moonlit vegetation
bathing in the algae and bacteria
I liquify and evaporate,
towards cosmic heaven.

The ego is necessary, but the super ego can be a destructive and pernicious force. The ego should not be destroyed but merely tamed...

I had some months when I was riguruosly writing down my mistakes and what tipe of ego made me do them. I just stoped and stay at the point where I got very stubborn and prefer to keep things like that in my head. Ego can reduce and can amplify. it depends on the efforts one makes

For me, the fuss is about a sick ego. IMO, there is such a thing as a healthy ego or self image but even a healthy ego or false self can eventually become a problem so, I vote for finding and BEING the real me with an ego for a handy companion or side kick. Some say the ego or false self can be lost, dumped, eliminated, ignored, killed, silenced, etc. but I see my little ego as a useful tool so long as it doesn't take over.
A very accomplished sage, Ramana Maharshi once mentioned that his ego comes up again and again, he sees through it, and it does not HARM him. So, I take it that many folks, including sages and wizards, have an ego but have it under control rather than having it control them as is the case for many of us "normal" people. The ego just is. Now, does it run you or does something bigger, wiser and HEALTHIER run you. Ramana was run by Reality with an unreal ego on the side.

Here is a link to an extraordinary study of the ego or sub-personalities which teaches how to understand the various egos or selves that operate in most folks and how to EMBRACE our Selves rather than ignore or reject them. It may be the most useful and intelligent study of Self that there is. Enjoy: www.voicedialogueinternational.com/

Every manifestation of ConsciousNess contains an unknown factor, which – when known – becomes another manifestation - thus multiplicity is born. Multiplicity is the cradle of differentiation – differentiation is subject to the R/P modes - their viewpoints cause restrictions - restriction retards Selfrealisation.
Attempts to reverse this process are many and differ according to the R/P modes - but rarely seem to make it past Ego.
Ego is a close circuit that consists of 8 R/P poles with 2 viewpoints which relate the poles in a cube-like manner.
When the two viewpoints check each other, a pseudo-self-consciousness comes about that has deceived Homo in all hemispheres & ages and been the cause of most of his troubles – particularly concerning his Selfrealisation quest.
The worldwide increasing popularity of Ego is probably because its two viewpoints are used as time/space coordinates, whereas its pseudo-self-consciousness appears as a kind of unity.
