Yes, they do. If you feel inclined, please do take a look at the short blog I wrote after the passing of my dog earlier this year:
"A dog's after death communications" (the link is below) This is my own experience. All I (and she) can do is pass this on.

While I don't understand the warrior concept, as hunters they respected all life.

No one bothered to define soul, and we may be talking about different things.

While i've never hunted, and don't care for fishing I eat what my body seems to need, yet it's a worthy question.

Yes, the hunting (buffalo etc.) traditions of the Native Americans. Though tradition doesn't make it right.
Bear in mind too that the disincarnate Native American spirit teachers i.e. Silver Birch, White Eagle etc. advocate vegetarianism.
And the Jains of course also respected all life and didn't kill anything.
I hold that we should walk through this life as harmlessly as possible. That is open to interpretation of course. Each to his own.

Great picture, Norsey. The eyes are the windows of the soul.
A still picture 'alive' with feeling and sentiment.

Lovely!

Do you know my friend and fellow SF member 'LPC'? You and him have had very similar experiences. (Re- dogs and post-death communication)

Plants certainly do possess a degree of consciousness.

As for having souls, like people and animals? My understanding is that if it has blood in its veins, then it has a soul.

That being said the First Blessing in Genesis advocates a diet destroying neither animal or plant, so no doubt the spiritual evolution of man will lead us down that path eventually.

I admit that we have conversations [mostly one-sided] every time I fire up the "juke-box"
