I've been sloowly looking, listening about tarot decks to try and scope out the best ones for me. I took a look at Tarocchi del Respiro, and found the art to my liking a great deal. It has simple, classic, colorful-enough images that I sense movement and a liveliness about...I'm seriously considering getting this one. Ty for the links belinda2.

Question

P.S. Since this deck only has 22 cards, do you handle them a special way, like adding other decks and if so, which ones, just for curiosity sake?

I have a 22 card deck designed by HR Geiger, they don't come much darker IMO.

I guess it depends how you define dark. The Naos Deck unashamedly has
swastikas and nazi imagery in it for instance and even though some of
the images are a bit lame and childlike there are some really powerful
and disturbing images in it - like Mercury 6 which shows a [woman??]
laying on her back giving bloody birth to white porcelains masks and
the look on her, its face is just... ugh. And the Mousa of Aemalgam I think it is, shows a pregnant woman and the lines are much better than the first cards for her body here, and a raven or crow stands in the doorway of the cave looking very creepy. ALso the Emanastions set by
Richard Moult has the original Sinister Tarot of the O.N.A. images plus
heaps of new dark ones - though its sold out now - I know cause I
tried to buy it and it was already gone :( but that was one REALLY
dark set.

On the Rise

Hello - a friend just sent me these, apparently they're part of a new dark deck by the Naos guy. Oh, and that Emanations set is back on the market it looks like. WR

[Edit] Whoops - there's some text that goes with it ... well with one of them, not sure which.

She calls from the Go-Between,
The Dream Between,
In spaces of folding psyche
where the I am am I retreats.

With clawed accusing fingers
They tear this shade
from the womb of the Dying World
in the Low where the Darkness eats.

Delicate and dessicate,
life through agony
ancient stars casting eldritch stares,
of rose and blackened fancy.

And the Gold She holds Skyward
grows eyes and hearts
to Listen to the throes unseen
of those with eyes who further See.

Born to Us, to THEM, as Lovers
in laughs embrace
yet another silver sliver
in the dance of light-cracked mirror,

writhe up and rise up anew
now and forever,
shapeless assassin Night-Princes
of ungodly sightless terror

+O+

The Collapse of Reason and the inward pivot of Necessity, the Annihilation of Boundaries and a forcing of Dimensions to form the knived tunnel of the Will. Death induced voluntarily through the strength of conviction borne of purpose and desire to change Change itself. Lead from Gold transformed into Spirit and Synchrony with the Evolved Psyche. Neural Pathways to Old Realms sunk below the Sands of Time. The Accuser accepting of the Role, the Death-Greeter with open arms falling into Space Fearless and Formless, Arrival as the God who watches over and above the Dancing Fool...

For any one just joining: Here's what I said to someone else about what I mean by dark:

"I don't really know how to define it - its like as that other girl said there is a brutal, vitriolic self-honesty that pulls no punches with the darker sets i.e. Satanic or Gothic sets. Some of the tarot I have seen like Chirstos Beests tarot are just mental - they take you to some weird place where you can feel the worst of humanity or its raw energies seeping through the cards and readings that normal traditional and I think often naive happy tarot dont have. I mean look a this card for example: http://mvimaedivm.wordpress.com/2011/01/07/change-vii/
Its by a guy named Tnepres and its just mental too, and this one http://mvimaedivm.wordpress.com/2011.../the-master-v/
its like these guys have gone to places the average tarot user and tarot deck maker doesnt dare go. I dont even know what this card means buts it hypnotic!
Its not that the cards are necessarily typically 'dark' with skulls and blood everywhere, its more that they reach inside me and pull out some seriously disturbing places, yknow?

Do you feel how these are different?"
