This does not seem too good:( Please advise...
Hello,
I have been discovering things about myself since I discovered that I have empath abilities-which is sort of confusing but I'm getting there slowly.
I have been going through a lot lately-but then I read about the 12 signs of spiritual awakening and a lot of what I'm going trough relate to the 12 signs.
I also happended to come across bipolar/manic depressive people on a internet site and it seems that I also have a lot of the syptoms-which is getting me worried.
I do go through periods of happiness and ecstasy but then they can also change to heavy depression and loosing the meaning of life and being and being totally lost-which are some of the symptoms of bipolar/manic depressive people.
And this discovery has led me to start thinking "what if I do have the above mental issues"
I don't know what to do as I want to develop my empath abilities further yet am worried about the other two things above that I might have...
Has anyone been through this?
Please please help me as I'm really getting worried...is there a connection between the above?

it also seems to be a part of the journey for some those symptoms, especially if you're extremely sensitive anyway, as you will be if you're an empath.
if you suspect you have depression i'd always advise seeing a gp. but it will also help you to talk through the dark moments, doubts and confusion, i'm here most days, pm me if you feel you want to talk, take care daisyx

Hello moonflower and daisy,
Thank you so much for your kind replies-it's very nice of you:)
Moonflower: you're right about natural healing as I also prefer natural healing, but that doesn't mean to say that I won't go and see a gp. I was actually looking at the healing effects of crystals and read that smokey quartz is very good for depression, and I happen to have a smokey quartz.
daisy: yes it does feel as if I'm on a part of some special journey, and it's a nice journey, and I feel as if I'm travelling to another realm or dimension-so it must be some kind of awakening. Thank you so much for offering your support it's very kind of you, and I will pm you when I feel like talking to you.
I just got a little scared, but then I lit a white candle and placed it next to my bed and decided to lie in bed and then I fell asleep, now that I have woken up I feel more relaxed and can feel something from people and it must be from you moonflower-so thank you very much...
I hope that I will also be able to be there for you both and help you when you need it, thank you and god bless both you you, you have really made me happy:)

ljepotica - As a society we seek to order things in to neat boxes and to place labels on people to make the best fit. This pleases us. Many of the labels we create describe 'stereotypes' - Simplified models that display all of the perceived classical characteristics of a certain group.
In reality however, the situation is much more fluid and complex than most could ever comprehend. All people are sitting somewhere on the mental/emotional health spectrum. We all have different places in relation to one another, and our own places may move with time, sometimes from moment to moment. Consider paranoia, anxiety, depression. Most people will find that they demonstrate these characteristics to a more or lesser degree at times regardless of whether they have any diagnosed mental health condition.
People diagnosed with manic depression are also on a very broad spectrum - some display only mild characteristics and others display very severe characteristics. Of those on that spectrum some find their condition completeley disabling often seeking medication to stabilise their moods and others embrace their condition, finding that their manic episodes enable them to achieve wonderful things.
I do think you should seek advise and make the right choices/judgements for you, whatever they may be, but perhaps you should be a little kinder and more forgiving of yourself in the process. You aren't necessarily so unlike other people as you may think.
As far as empathy goes, I don't know whether there is any connection there. Perhaps, perhaps not, but I do think that you have to put yourself first. You need to be in a strong place yourself before working on developing your empathic abilities any further.
I sincerely wish you well.

I would like to add my best wishes to you, ljepotica. You've already had some excellent advice here, tho I would just like to reiterate that you probably shouldn't actively seek to further your empathic abilities until you've got a clearer idea about the depression & what's going on.
I've gotta say I feel it is linked somehow, or at least being a strong empath certainly isn't helping, lol, and would stress that you cleanse your energies & maybe do a chakra-clearing/balancing meditation as often as you can.
Good luck!

What you have to rememeber is that with any mental illness, you are creating it, you made it up out of thin air, possibly many years ago and you are now reaping what you sowed.
Thusly you can overcome this 'psychological issue' by creating or thinking in a way that is beneficial to your health. I do it all the time, I switch between psychotic reasoning and healthy outlook whenever it suits me.
I say: Take a risk and further your empath abilities, if you keep the right mind you will be able to balance your 'illness' and possibly work through any problems you seem to be having, and you may come out the other end and say 'Wow, I was only making all that stuff up'.
