Security of Website

I've been on SF for 7 years and it just occurred to me recently that SF doesn't have a SSL certificate in order to have a more secure user experience (being an https website). This is often important when people are signing on with usernames and passwords or other sensitive data on a website. I don't know for sure, but there may be additional costs involved. Anyway, it's not really a big deal; was just curious is all. Thanks Admins and Mods.

Thanks, Black Raven. Ill forward it over to tech/staff, not sure if anything can be done at the moment, but sure worth bringing attention to it.
I think a concern I am having is when anyone clicks on links. In the past, the forum usually gave a warning or redirection page notifying a member that they are about to leave the forum. Something happened ( I think) in the CSS code where it doesn't give that warning anymore. For the most part I try to look through most of the links posted, remove them if they seem suspicious, but just a heads up before clicking on links too. All a work in progress figuring out these glitches.

Thank you Clover. I have noticed too then when a link is provided within a post, there is no longer a warning that one is leaving the SF website.

I seconded this HTTPS concept. I just asked one of my favorite forum (thinkpad forums) to adopt HTTPS few days ago with no issues. Not difficult to do if I dare to hope. :)

Once anyone visit this forum without signing in or not registered yet starts up as HTTPS first thing in their browser so the security and bit more privacy is assured from end to end.

Cheers, stonecollector

When I last attempted to log in from my son's pc, a security warning notice popped up... I'm not tech savvy, therefore left it alone in fear of causing any damage.

I'd like to revisit this issue to see what can be done on the technical end to make this website more secure. When I visit this site I get the following warning:

"Connection to this website is not secure. Login and password may be compromised."

Sorry to bring up this again, but because a username and password is being used on SF, I wonder if it can be made more secure. Was this issue ever addressed when I first posted this thread? Thank you admins. I appreciate it.

Now that's odd. I don't get any warning about my login info possibly being compromised. I always log out but there have been times when I return to SF that shows I'm still logged in so I log out anyway then log in right away.

Hello

I am currently working on some of the many issues we have at times here. Have patients with me, as it frustrates me as well.
