First Time Meditation
Ok let me explain my situation, I have been studying subconscious mind on and off for many years, I am extremely open to it and have only recently come to apprehend it properly and how it is possible to benefit my own life through the subconscious.
I am 22 years old and a student. I suffer from Generalised Anxiety Disorder, I have another health condition which affects my anxieties and mood as well. I am taking natural substances (5HTP, Rhodiola) and they help.
My mind needs to undergo some serious changes for me to start benefiting from my subconscious. I smoke cannabis, I play a lot of video games and I drink and go out a lot. Now I know a lot of negative energy in my life is caused by these, the cannabis worsens my anxiety and paranoia, video games are keeping my mind constantly alert, drinking and going out is causing me to make mistakes which I'm always questioning why. It's not a peaceful mindset.
Recently however, after reading up and properly realising how to control and alter the subconscious through the conscious state, and the benefits of meditation. I have started more peaceful and in an improved state, mentally. The thing is, I'm not sure whether this is a 'placebo' effect. For example, when meditating I very quickly will experience a feeling of being outside my body, my head will also tilt upwards to the point where my neck is completely upright. I also experience an almost tingling sensation in my body.
When I come round, I feel very tired but peaceful. I also stop thinking so much and feel generally alot more calmer.
My question is - is that really possible?!? How can someone who has literally just begun meditating experience this? As previously stated, I am extremely open to the subconscious, I am very open to outer body experiences and seeing my physical self as being an experience through a subconsciousness.
Any help/advice is appreciated

Yes, benny.... These kinds of experiences are natural in meditation for some people... although there are many others you may discover. Just keep practicing and letting go of expectations, being present with whatever shows up.

It is normal, how much we experience in meditation is down to how much work we have put in, both in this life and previous ones.
we are a 3 fold being, mind body and spirit, you need to work all three to get the full benefits and yes your right, until you kick the canabis habit you will have problems

So some people are more 'awake' or 'tuned in' on this kind of thing?
As for the cannabis, I thought that may be the case. It seems like a good time in my life to stop depending on it. Just out of curiousity - what is it that cannabis alters regards to all this?

meditatrion is about controlling the moind, slowing it down , stopping it so that what is hidden behind thought can manifest. canabis is about letting the mind free and is the opposite direction

I was much the same, smoking like that, and I started meditation practice. After a bit of persistance, the meditation becomes quite relevent, brings insight, and intoxicants get in the way... then, as a matter of priority, the meditation takes precedence and the intoxicants are forgone.

Apologise I should of made it more clear - I don't actually plan on using cannabis before meditating, but whether it still affects it if I use it other times still?

Ya gotta stop smoking pot.
Especially after finding out what it does to you.
That's my first form of advice.
Nothing for me would come till that was stopped for a few weeks.
Pot effects everyone differently - it's not the right drug for you
to be using by your own description.
Sorry.

My experience is, after starting the meditation practice I soon found using intoxicants was inhibiting the quality of meditations, getting in the way, so I can only suggest keep the practice going.

Yeah, quitting it is constantly in the back of my mind. I know I gotta do it. Being a student I have a lot of free time, which is the problem. Guess I should find a hobby or something
