Look at your stress/anxiety levels. Younger women will often loose hair during periods of high stress. It usually stops when the stress goes away or is managed in a healthier way.

I was in the same situation, Lilly. Since I began using a shampoo with horsetail herb in it my hair's been getting healthier and stronger.

Are you cold natured? Cold hands and feet? Do you feel sluggish and tired? Is your normal temperature below 98.6?

Hair loss is typical of sluggish thyroid. Some supplements that can help the thyroid:

Selenium and L-Tyrosine help the body convert the thyroid hormone T4 into its useable form T3.

Iodine helps the body make the thyroid hormone (lugols or iodoral at swansonvitamins.com)

Vitamin C, magnesium and B-complex are companion supplements for the iodine

Boron (tri-boron supplement) helps the body get rid of fluoride which is a goitergen which suppresses the thyroid

Be aware of soy products in your diet as soy is a goitregen too.

Are these suggestions only for females? Because I'm a 22 male and I have a receding hair-line and am losing hair at the front of my head and am wondering if these suggestions will help prevent my hair loss.

Let me tell you about horsetail tea. (Don't know about it in any other form so can't comment.)
A woman had the most flexible ligaments - she couldn't hold an adjustment - she could bend her thumb back like you've never seen.
A nutritionist said take horsetail tea.
Her thumb could stop at the half way point after awhile -sorry don't know how long it took - Horsetail tea is something ELSE!!

Just a note of caution on using Rosemary - whereas its use in hair loss is fairly well established, if you suffer from high blood pressure it's inadvisable to use it too often.

I had the same problem, but it was just my shampoo causing my hair to come out almost in clumps in the shower and on my brush. I simply changed shampoos and it doesn't seem to be a problem. I do have to switch shampoos after a few weeks or the same thing happens.

I will have to look into horsetail tea. Sounds interesting!

Good luck, Crystalline Lilly. :)

Are you getting enough protein? That is vital for healthy hair.

Pure ocean kelp is excellent, contains a myriad of trace minerals.

Zinc is very important for hair health (If you're losing a lot of hair in the comb, try zinc rich foods/supplement) - and vitamin B.

Hi Lilly,
As you have advised much by other members, but some more hair care tips for you.
Avoid stress with regular workout and take adequate amount of protein through daily meals. Avoid touching or pulling your hair. Do combine and brush your hair every day and use shampoo according to your hair texture. Apply conditioner after shampoo and don't rub hair hard with towel to dry them.
