Reiki and severe pain

Earlier today I was doing a reiki treatment as I do most days when I developed very crippling pain in my right leg, mainly concentrated around my knee but it started to travel down the entire leg. It was so severe I honestly couldn't move my leg, I felt sick and faint and thought I'd have to call an ambulance. I have a very high threshold for pain but this was excruciating. It was as if my leg was frozen but the pain itself was sharp and searing.

I have a neurological illness where aches and pains are a common occurance and sometimes reiki does seem to bring those out. However I've never in my life experienced pain as terrible as this, it made me want to cry!

I believe reiki works for my highest good so I can only imagine that it was simply bringing toxins out to the surface? The fact I felt totally fine before I did the reiki treatment means it was definitely the reiki that brought it out although I don't believe it was caused by reiki directly.

The other thought I had, which is connected, is that I had a panic attack earlier and perhaps the energy from that become concentrated in one place and the reiki released it as leg pain?

Any thoughts? Does reiki normally bring out severe pain like this when there's pre-existing problems, and is it good or bad?

Gosh, are you sure your knee doesn't have a torn meniscus or something? That's what I have and it sounds almost like what I felt when I first felt my knee pain. I don't have answers for the reiki thing, but just sometimes wonder if people don't get misdiagnosed, partially sometimes.

No Silvergirl it's fine this morning and was just before I started doing reiki! As I said, I do have a neurological illness which produces muscle aches and pains but this was just far greater in extreme and came out of the blue.

Please consult a doctor; even my Reiki master advices that.

I would say get a once over by a doctor. Don't assume that it was the Reiki that made you worse. Those assumptions in the long run could be damaging as you may over look something that could be more serious than it should of been because it was not diagnosed in time.

If you get the all clear from a doctor than you can say the Reiki may of brought an issue to the surface. However if you do indeed have neurological illness it may of just been a flare up. It may of just been a reaction to the energy from the Reiki. Causing you to tense up. You may of tensed up from the energies. Sometimes when we face certain ailments if something is similar to what we are going through. It can trigger buried emotions in our body. But it's always best to get a doctors advice first, as Reiki should never be a replacement for such things, but should be a compliment to it.

I would have to agree, get to the doc. You can have neurological illness and still have the separate issue of a torn meniscus, and believe me, it sounded just like when I first got my torn meniscus, it's just I didn't know what it was supposed to feel like, since it had never happened before.

I've read that when you're doing a reiki session on someone and you feel pain in your body, that's a signal that deep healing is going on in your client.

I have had the same pain when I was bone breathing while I was trying to relaxe. I stopped before it got worse but it mainly occured in and around my right knee and ankle, both have been injured and still cause me problems. I do not think it is a bad thing but I feel your pain, ouch!

It has been my experience and training in Reiki that sometimes pain can intensify before it clears from our bodies. I am so glad that you have not felt it since Starbuck.
