i really, really dislike that quote. it is variously attributed to A.Einstein, B.Franklin, or any number of others. (perhaps to make it sound smart).

imagine: i knock at a friends door, but he's not home, i get no answer.
i return the next day, with the same results for the same action.
i return a third day - same story.
is it then the "sane" course of action to never seek the company of that friend?
i should assume that his vacation is permanent?

imagine: i swing an axe at a tree - it doesn't fall down.
i swing again - it stubbornly refuses to topple.
does sanity insist that the tree will never yield?

freewill requires freedom of choice.
i can't provide a clear, reliable method to discern "signal" from "noise"; sorry.

I feel like the universe just laughs at me.

It's like this all the time. It works for silly little things, like hearing a particular song, once in a while. Big stuff? Nope. The signs seem so blatant and unmistakable, and then I try to act on them, and I can't make anything happen. Like trying to meet this person, every single person I've contacted who might be able to help has not answered me. No "Sorry, I can't help." Just flat-out no answer at all.

I don't understand. Ready to just say screw it and forget it.

Hi Plumeria,

I believe the 1st reference below will help.

Just to let you know how this came to me, I was looking at the answer I'd provided to another SF member (see reference 2), and was prompted to highlight the phrase in it "your subconscious cant tell the difference between imagination and reality".

If you highlight that phrase yourself, and then right-click on what you highlighted, Google will give you the option to search throughout the internet for anyplace that search string occurs. (I didn't know this!). And that's how I found out where to look for the answer to your question I've provided as the 1st reference, which I believe will meet your needs. But if not, "highlight and search" some more until you find information that resonates with you!

Hope this helps, and that you realize (as I do now!) that you can use Google to do things just like this....for any question!

But more importantly, I hope this helps you feel that the Universe (which has brought you answers such as this), echoes the joy of YOUR laughter at discovering yet another way to find the answers you seek.

BTW: Enjoy locating the highlighted phrase in reference 1.

The universe is not playing games with you. There is no outside force determining who you can and cannot meet.

It is all you. This can be a hard truth to accept. You seem to think you can get close, but not attain. You said it yourself - this always happens.

This is easy to overcome. Send us a message. Look at our most recent blog post.

Thoughtism, your site has valuable ideas. i like it.
the most recent post [The Pit of Potential] contains this line:
"Young people with potential are portrayed and superior in all media, and in all social groups."
if you can edit it, changing the first "and" into "as" will convey the meaning you've intended (i believe).

You are being tested, as we all are through life.

As the saying goes 'character may be manifested in the great moments, but it is made in the small ones'.

Be patient. Be grateful for what you have. Be thankful for what you get.
