Healing for Trauma
Does anyone have any experience / ideas of healing modalities for physical ailments as a result of a physical and emotional traumatic event? I've tried all kinds of things from acupuncture, cranio sacral therapy, homeopathy, flower essence, vibrational essences, TAT, meditation. I'm about to start some intensive EFT but wondered if any had any ideas of what else is out there?

How about studying/reading about Buddhism? Among the first books I ever read when I became interested a couple of years ago, the most enchanting and inspiring was Old Path White Clouds. It's the Buddha's bio written by Master TNH (Thich Nhat Hahn).

Thanks for that. What is the connection between Buddhism and healing from trauma?

There are things about Buddhism/Buddhist practices, like mindfulness practice and meditation for example, that help a person know themselves a whole lot deeper than what you now know about yourself. It surprised me how much deeper our psyches are, and that was a good thing - by my own personal experiences. What we usually think when we think about ourselves and our problems is just scratching the surface.
It is helping me, specifically to deal with the loss of my only son, Sean (3/3/87 ~ 2/14/10).
The book I mentioned ... I believe it will inspire you.

Have you considered seeing a reiki practitioner? Hopefully you live in an area where you can find a few or at least one practitioner nearby. The practitioner should have a level 3 or master level training. I would try to find more than one so you can find someone who offers the service inexpensively. You might also look into community centers or alternative health treatment centers sometimes a practitioner might offer it for free there (esp. at the community/senior center).

I have had reiki before but I have major trust issues with any kind of hands on therapy through another person because, this is difficult to explain, the practitioner, although didn't know it (and I didn't know this at the time) was used by a spirit being to take my heart chakra energy away. The number of people who tell me 'oh that can't happen' really angers me because it DID happen. It took me months to figure out a way of getting it back. Eventually I saw a medium who described what had happened as "spiritual rape" and he was able to give me healing to restore my heart energy.
So I'm not eager to repeat that experience. I may try acupuncture as there's no direct hands on touch from another person. I'm also interested in self healing methods but NOT meditation = as that also can be hijacked, so I guess I'm pretty limited. I'm currently trying EFT.

Sometimes a lot of spiritual stuff can add chaos to what is already difficult, and the more crucial aspects, such as trust which you mention, are overlooked, but when people understand things trust is the most important part of healing relationships. There are professionals who specialise in trauma, ad there are different kinds of trauma which respective professionals specialise in. Perhaps doing a bit of a google search about your particular sort of trauma might reveal a possible path for you to take.

Thank you for acknowledging and not trying to dismiss my experience.
I have been googling for ten years and have tried many things, some of which have backfired, made the symptoms worse (without it then getting better) or created a new problem.
If the EFT I'm doing doesn't work, then I guess I'm going to have to live with it!

Hi Patrycia-Rose,
It's completely possible for a person to take your energy when they do a healing on you. If the person isn't connected to Source and Earth / is in a bad place / or is just not present (daydreaming), then they're going to drain you. I do energy healing and could write a huge post on this but let's get to your question.
I've recovered massively from trauma. It wasnt an easy journey, but that was partly because I tried many of the wrong things and met teh wrong people who didnt have a clue what I was going through.
Buuuut, in hindsight now, I see that I didnt find the right people precisely because I wasn't centred or grounded. It was only about 18 months ago that I finally got to a place where I felt like I was healing at a good pace.
Tell me a few of your symtoms. Are you having nightmares?
Hugs.

The trauma was ten years ago. I carried a great deal of anger which I've finally resolved with EFT. I feel very remote now from the event but two physical symptoms remain. Through mediums and piecing information together I've finally figured out what's going on. Essentially the trauma went on for weeks culminating in four days where I could barely function through stress and fear. That trauma imbalanced my acid alkaline levels, so my body became acidic and caused permanent sore tissue in the mouth. It's taken ten years to understand all this. The trauma settled in the osephagus up to the mouth. The other symptom is kidneys and waterworks. I know from Chinese medicine that fear settles in the kidneys. I've tried two lots of homeopathic treatment, cranio sacral therapy, reiki, flower essences, vibrational essences, changes in diet I.e gluten free, acupuncture, supplements, meditation, crystal healing, TAT, EFT. You can see why I've virtually given up! I don't have nightmares, rarely think about it now which is why it's so frustrating that my body can't seem to recover.
