Be inspired to make a difference...

Who ever said, "One Man can't change the world", underestimated the power of a determined, inspirational spirit. Of which, at this point in history, Humanity has been blessed with many. Men and women who believed problems could be resolved without weakening the integrity of their character and sacrificing their own disciplined, kindhearted nature.

The hard part is already done. It was done when those before us laid the initial footprints to lead us away from resolving issues with violence. Without an example to follow, they placed their faith in a belief, set forth with a clear vision and found success through non-violent means.

If these profoundly inspiring individuals have taught us anything it is that there is no limit to what can be accomplished when our actions are guided by goodness, compassion and love. And yes, one person can influence a whole world of change.

As Gandhi found inspiration through the teachings of Krishna, Jesus and Muhammad,

As Martin Luther King Jr. found inspiration through Gandhi,

Removed, as these men were, of the self imposed barriers of self importance that divide us, such as: race, religion, political affiliation and social status.

Removed enough to recognize goodness even when it is in one who is not like yourself.

You too, can be inspired to make a difference. And you too can influence a whole world of change when your actions are guided by goodness, compassion and love for all.

I wish you well.

Perhaps it's blowing my own trumpet, but just right now perhaps I need something to keep me going.

I have a dream. That dream is that one day the governments will unite around the issues of child abuse. Perhaps the laws of each country are different and some are more effective than others, but to my mind child abuse crosses borders so why can't the law? All it takes is an international agreement. All it takes?

But that starts with a single step, and finding the way forward is difficult at the moment. We have taken a few steps that haven't worked as well as we would have wanted, but then that only means we haven't found the right one as yet. All we can do is keep trying different avenues until such time as the Universe decides we have the right now. We have to change those around us before we can change the world. Perhaps one day..........

In the forefront of it all is the belief that we can and that we're doing the 'right thing'. Perhaps we'll never be as famous as Ghandi nor Martin Luther King, but they started off somewhere.

Is this something you are actively working towards? Or are you just expressing a deep seated desire for change?

I ask because, if you are an average person just going about your business you may want to establish smaller accomplishable goals. Sort of a "What can I reasonably expect myself to accomplish?" approach.

There are countless ways we can contribute to the betterment of humanity. But changing the world is not about changing everyone else. It is about changing ourselves. We have to allow ourselves to embrace more than the idea of change but actual change. A dream that is not actively pursued is like a cloud. A cloud may cast a tiny shadow on the landscape but it will not change it. Gandhi said it best when he said, "Be the change you want to see in the world".

Yes, 002 cents, it is something I'm actively working towards. The link is in the signature for the website (which is about to get re-vamped again as we move forwards). Perhaps in the long run it will change the world, who knows? All I can do is do the best I can with what I've got, the rest is in the hands of the Universe.

Thank you for sharing that with us. It is not an easy ambition to want to change the world. Making yourself an advocate for those who can not change the laws themselves is admirable. And regardless of the outcome it is a noble and worthy cause. So,stay strong and never loose your focus.

Thank you. It's been a bit of a strange trip, one door firmly closes in your face and you get shoved through another one. But you gotta try, right? The only time you're going to find it is when you walk the Path.
