Look lately I've been focusing a lot on my physical life,my appearence,mudane earthly things and to be honest it's not fufilling enough,it leaves me empty and on shaky ground,vulnerable to investment in meaningless things.so yes I do thinks it's very detrimental to ones life.

I don't think you need to believe in a divinity, bit definitely something higher than yourself. For some people it's dedication to family even. For me, I want to be a part of helping our species transcend its limitations.
