I say happy. I mean joy. To me, happy is just another word for joy.
Similarly, some people call God He. They don't mean He, they mean God. It's just a word.

That's what I mean.

And I personally don't say God or He. I say Spirit. Just using that as an example.

Ok, now I get you
I kinda feel pressure when folks say, you can choose happiness, LOL.
But I do get that we can choose to align with joy No pressure!!!

I found myself amused by this word 'Authentic', while I understand what you are saying 7luminaries, it brings to mind for me a very popular spiritual buzzword in vogue where I live. The word 'Authentic' here is used a 'proof of spiritual understanding' ...supposedly. And it tacked onto all sorts of events and the people who lead the events. It's become advertising and often used in the most perverse ways which have nothing to do with the Evolution of Consciousness.

Here's an example: I received an invitation (I receive about 4 a day to various events hosted in this town by 'spiritual practitioners) to a Authentic relating event and exploration of the authentic self.

It was titled 'Shamanic Drumming Sacred Self Pleasure Journey'. It says it begins with breath work and balancing energies and a description of what Shamanic drumming is, then the attendees drop into meditation and begins to explore their 'authentic self'...and I quote form the ad:
"You are welcome to bring non-vibratory sexual enhancement toys or tools. Everyone will be in their own separate nest and will be blindfodled once we start the journey, so you will not witness or be wintessed in your self pleasuring. You will call forth your guides, guardians, messengers, and other beings. I will then guide you through a Shamanic energetic balancing of your entire body with the beings you have called forth assisting you as you need and desire. Once we have moved through earth water air fire balancing, you will continue the self pleasure masturbation journey at your own pace, allowing yourself to fully feel into your pleasure principal, your source energy - feeling, hearing, smelling, tasting the delicious energies of those around you amplifying your orgasmic potential."
The event ends with Singing Bowls being played, everyone is led in a grounding of energies exercise and a round house discussion of the experiences people had.

As you can see the word "Authentic" can get used pretty perversely as can 'Spirituality". LOL

Again, not poking at you in anyway, just sharing how twisted some spiritual buzzwords can get in SeekerLand and how they can not only loose all meaning but become a pervasion.

When I was suffering from depression, people would say, "Hey, just be happy!" Oh okay, gotcha. Why didn't I think of that?

It was people like that with their lack of... sensitivity? intelligence?... that contributed to my depression in the first place!

Spiritual self-pleasure is one end of the consciousness spectrum. Spiritual self-abuse at the other (see sin, hell, and twin flames lol).

Middle Path for me! And that's why ^^^

Hahaha! I hear you Baile! :) We've been there and done at least one end of that crazy spectrum. Glad the lessons were learned and time has moved on to gentler pastures.

Not sure what the Middle Path is despite being here in Buddaland, but a healthy balance where both the Higher Self and the Ego are embodied and work as a Team certainly seems a better option than the madness of the spectrum ends!

LOL...OMG. Well, you got that right....

About all I can say to this is....sounds pretty unsavoury, particularly the sharing bit afterwards. If led by certified professionals or else by eunuchs/castrati who have no predatory sexual urges, then I suppose it might be truly safe for some sort of "authentic" therapy for folks who are blocked in this area. Otherwise...sounds kinda creepy and pervy, way too invasive, and needlessly expensive...

sigh...

Peace and blessings
