Underestimating God.

It is something that I notice quite often. People seem to put God in a pigeon hole and feel they have Him sussed.

I have heard God described in many ways, such as He is "no mystery", He is "I AM", He is "my own self", He is "bliss", He is "just Love" etc. etc.

In many ways I feel we all underestimate God. Christ, Krishna, Buddha, myself included.

Do you feel you have that tendency too?

Hi Honza. I'm not sure about underestimating him. My own view would be that we put too much pressure on him, in the sense of the Ego. Sometimes we are too quick to blame him for everything bad that happens and all of our own personal mis-fortune. I personally never blame him for anything, no matter how bad. And I never underestimate his worth, his value.

I prefer calling God "The Great Mystery".
But often I settle for less to attempt to
convey the spoken or written word.
I love being in awe and wonder of Creation
which allows extreme gratitude and thankfulness
to my Creator at my core.

I think misunderstand is more appropriate word than underestimate in literal sense of the term . Understanding him requires lot of faith and intellect. Though lot of these may be common sense , common sense being very uncommon ,it is still not easy to find many who understands him.

I would not say that about Christ, Krishna, Buddha that they misunderstand it .

You mention Krishna who is the eighth avatar of the Vishnu is part of triad of three Gods (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) who make up the Hindu Supreme God - Trimurti.

Buddha? Which Buddha? There have been st least 28 Buddhas so far and if you count the one waiting in Tuṣita Heaven, then you have 29 Buddhas. But then 'Buddha' is not a God.

Christ is also not considered a God.

The only time I underestimate God, is whenever I don't trust that He really knows what He is doing.

Yes I do that too. It is unnerving the way reality carries on at times.

Color I underestimate God, yes.

Most definitely!!!

And this is coming from a person who thinks of God as everywhere and the essence of every everything,
infinitesimal and infinite - in this dimension and in a possible million zillion other dimensions.

(As in, all the bubbles in a glass of just poured beer representing Universes; in and of
themselves with billions of galaxies each having billions of suns with possible billions of solar systems.)

Ha, think of the first MIB movie.

Me? Who thinks everything is as real in this world of matter as a Hologram is real in the Holodeck on Star Trek.
Me, who thinks every single piece of this creation is similar to a
holographic bookmark
you cut into 100 tiny pieces and each piece contains the whole---the image of the 'giraffe'.

Me, who still underestimates this Infinite Transcendent Brilliant Spirit,
even tho I know and have
experienced is in my own head/mind---right between my ears and has spoken to me in complete sentences.
Me, who has experienced multiple times - this omnipresent consciousness alive and breathing
in everything around me - rocks, the ceiling - and was shown at 8 yr old all this is a dream

made of dreamstuff...as real as a propped up facade on a movie set of a Hollywood Old West main street.

I could go on...but you get the idea --and I still underestimate God...
Who dwells in a place (I have exp'd)
of no space or time...Who

is a Void, yet also everything manifested.
A wild and logically perfect Paradox in so many many ways...He has shown me leaving me with
my mouth dropped, yet again. (I don't just make this stuff up or parrot things written...)

Me, who was revealed His Sacred Heart that left me dumb struck for months
at the vulnerability and need for our love...and the humility that He wanted to show me this.

See? Hard for me to stop.
(Rem - I have gone within in stillness and silence for 47 yrs, many times 3- 6 hours a sitting....things happen.)

A quote: ''You can be as close to God as you wanna be - it
depends on how much time you're willing to spend."

(Don't forget the Universes as many as the bubbles in a beer - ---Thank u, Hubble Telescope
for helping our minds expand.)----Now THAT I have not personally exp'd!!!

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Hi Honza!

I don't care for the anthropomorphization of God, which seems to relate to what you are saying. Our human minds struggle to imagine anything greater than ourselves.
