Were the famous mythological creatures real??

It's an extraordinary question but I've been reading the Secret History Of The World by Jonathan Black and he seems to be proposing that, at least in the beliefs of many esoteric traditions and secret societies, the mythological creatures of legend were actually real, living entities. Not just the creatures but many of the ancient gods as well. It seems very far fetched to me that anyone could still believe this but it was certainly well put together. He gives an explanation of Genesis that posits Adam as some sort of vegetable being with several different gods responsible for the creation of the solar system, you couldn't really make it up!!!

If it took a number of gods to make our tiny solar system, it must have taken billions of gods to make the whole universe.

A lot of stuff are hidden and unknown. The truth will present it self when it feels its relevant. I believe there may have been valuable information before World War II, since Hitler burned a lot of history books that didn't consist of him in it. Not to mention a lot of valuable treasure went missing also.

You wonder if there were indeed atheists in ancient times?? Or was there just maybe more evidence available then of a Bigger Picture

I think atheists occur more over time, but it doesn't mean that there wasn't any in ancient times.

For example, I have yet to see any in the Asian community either..

Their have always been atheists. There seem to be more now because they're no longer in danger of being hounded, prosecuted, persecuted, tortured and burned by the spiritual and religious.

I believe that much of the stories about mythical creatures, especially dragons, unicorns, ogres, ect come from a very distant primitive memory when humans once lived among megafauna. A cave in Greece once considered to be a dwelling of a cyclops in ancient times became part of Greek mythology, and then in modern times it was discovered that there were fossils of woolly rhino buried in that cave. Woolly rhino was all across Europe until they were extinct at the end of the last Ice Age. Dragons might either be based on dinosaur bones or even be based on spirits of dinosaurs that were encountered by ancient nomadic people.
