Thanks Smiler... I know what you mean about the years flying past... I was only 79 yesterday, but in less than twenty four hours, I've aged a complete year... No wonder I felt a little tired when I woke up this morning... Must have been on the move all night...

Anyway, I'm pleased that after the event, we can actually go on hold for the next twelve months, before we leap into the future once again...

Ohhhh... The joys of living... Maybe I could write a poem about that... I'll give it some thought...

How about this for a speedy reaction...


The Night Flight

Last night when I went off to sleep
I was just seventy nine,
today, they say I’m eighty - Mmmm,
the truth’s hard to define.

How can we shift a whole twelve months,
in less less time that it takes,
to mix a bit of batter up
and turn it into cakes.

Good job I didn’t stay awake
or else I might have seen
a whole twelve months go whizzing past
as though t’was all a dream

The mind - it boggles at the thought
of travelling at that speed,
I’d need to hang on to me hat
and - other things I need.

Just fancy travelling at the speed
that light does all the time,
yah wouldn’t have the time to sit
and write a one line rhyme.

let ’lone enough to fill a page
so’s one and all enjoyed,
the thoughts a’racing through yah head
before they were destroyed.

So no - I’ll stick to age old traits
of moving day by day
and slowly make the best I can
of all that comes my way…

A man is growing old I think,
but he has to life a very strong link.
As long as he believes he can,
he will be amongst us as a very young man.

For him giving up has never been an alternative,
because he still has so much to give.
He will spent another year chatting along,
and we will again sing him a birthday song.

His energy is forever always there and here,
so whatever happens he will never disappear.
All the things he adds to this earth,
are already stored in the Akashic files, starting from his birth.

Men can live 200 years when he is smart,
and he certainly is in his heart.
So he fills his tank again with love,
There is enough of it on the earth and up above.
