Gargoyles
Hello,
What do gargoyles symbolize to you? Why do you think some homes, churches, and buildings have them? Do you believe these gargoyles were placed to ward off any demons from entering?
This had been on my mind lately. My friend has them on the entrance of his home - close to the rooftop.
Blessed be,
Lepus

Gargoyles on buildings actually look quite beautiful. Many gargoyles are an elaborate form of decourative drain pipe system to stop any leaks and water damaging walls.
The name Gargoyle is similar to the English word "gurgle" to swallow water.
Similar to lion headed and dragon headed fountains from ancient Greece .

This makes sense.
These gargoyles were made to look grotesque to ward off evil. The gargoyles' grotesque look was modeled off of the idea of hell, and was used as a way to help illiterate people understand what hell was and what it could do to a person.
Blessed be,
Lepus
