inviting change

I have always been a routine person. my life, while nice, had become stagnant. things do not grow in a stagnant environment. I have recently come to the realization that you can not do things the same way every time and expect to get something different. I have started getting up an hour earlier- sometimes I pick up around the house, sometimes yoga, or watering the trees. it makes me feel productive. its a good way to start the day and it is diverse. I have made other little changes that stray from the routine and they help to remind me of goals that I have. you can not expect to get cake when you have biscuit mix in your bowl! :)

so....what I'm asking is "what are you doing to invite positive change into your life?" your little changes may inspire little changes in someone else. :)

That is a really good post Meadows, I wish I could do that. I do this nearly every day. I wake up. Eat. Have coffee. Watch family Feud with my coffee and eat about 7 chocolate squares. I clean up and get dressed. I go out to the shop and continue oil painting a picture. I stay out their long enough till noon. I come in to eat then go back out to paint until I become dizzy with the fumes. (got no adequate ventilation) Then I get on this forum which I find fun and informative. I stay on it for awhile. I have to type with one hand due to a stroke I had recently. I'm 65. That takes me up to supper. I eat. Then I watch Jeapordy and wheel of fortune Then I watch any detective movies till 10:00. Then I take my medicine and go to sleep. The thing is you would think I would be bored to death but I'm not. Instead I am at peace. I mostly am glad I didn't freaking die during the night.

Thank, this is very insightful. Most days I simply do my homework then listen to music or read. I get really stressed out with school. I have been wanting to get outside and de-stress with a little exercise and fresh air. Maybe now is the time to make that change!
Thank you Meadows, you have given me a boost to do what I want to do and make a change.

budhabee, I used to get up in the morning and eat/drink my coffee while watching the news. one day, it dawned on me that the news is never good and the weather is usually wrong- what am I getting out of this? so, I started eating on the porch and watching birds instead. you should do whatever brings you peace. you are so fortunate to still be here after your stroke. you are so fortunate to be able to paint -I wish I could! have you considered sharing your gift with someone?

KaliLii, I hope you do make a change. don't think that it has to be a "big" thing- if you do, you'll keep putting it off until you think you have "big" time to do it. start little. try not to stress about school. do your best. focus. give it the attention it deserves, but not all of your attention. spend your breaks outside. go read outside. its soo nice!

I wish you well :)

actually that is a very good idea about going to sit on the back porch to drink my coffee. I have a nice back porch. I think I will try that now that the weather here is turning favorable. It's a darn good idea. No one has ever seen my paintings except my family. They rob me often though so I guess I am good at it. I found one picture completely gone after a visit from my sister and her daughter came for a visit last summer. The goofy side of this was it wasn't even done. lol. I have around 30 or so completed works. Need to show them at an arts and craft fair like they are having this weekend downtown. I just gotta build up a little more energy. Thanks for the back porch idea.

I have a delicious view out of my window. It's not huge or massive but it's just delicious.

And one of the things that I've started to do is to pray whilst looking out of the window. I pray to the spirits of the hills, with whom I am in league. I give thanks for another day on the earth, for the rising of the sun again - I ask that I may never take these blessings for granted. I give thanks for teh opportunity of having a coffee and to be still for a moment. I give thanks for the birds and the trees that bring so much joy and are symbolic of a universe of wonder.

The other thing I do - is I connect very very deeply - either I ground or I journey shamanically or I do reiki. Or a combination. I would adore to journey all the while but I sense that I get ungrounded doing that and I journey far too easy so the veil between the different worlds becomes distorted and I slip through, whilst I need to remain present. I''m working hard at creating good boundaries in my life and so grounding is really essential.

Mostly I wake up before my alarm clock and I love that time.

Thank you for your support and your wonderful ideas!
Just today I went for a short walk and it was so beautiful outside. I saw a red balloon floating up in the sky. It made me feel nice inside!

you're welcome KaliLii.

this morning, I was thinking about things that I do just out of habit. not bad habits, just things that I do because "its just what I do" kind of things. it dawned on me that if there is no real reason, then why am I doing it. couldn't I be doing something with some meaning behind it? usually when I am at work and it is quiet, I will go on my laptop. I am not on facebook or anything like that- usually here, or banking, sometimes ebay. I think this week I am going to make a conscious effort not to get out the laptop and see what fills in the time. when I come back next week, I will let you know how it turned out. maybe by then, there will be some more posts on this thread with other ideas on how to invite positive changes into your life. I wish you guys well :)

My husband is one to follow the same routine all the time whereas I will follow one pattern for awhile and then change-up and do things differently until I get bored with that schedule and I change again.

This morning I am enjoying a nice warm house with a cup of my favorite coffee since it is unseasonably cold outside and not expected to be a particularly warm day. Later I'll put on a jacket to keep the chill off and go out and do my chores but right now the coffee and this forum is just where I want to be.

Nice thread by the way.

Well, this week I hardly picked up my laptop. If I had a chance to sit down (there weren't many!) I tried to drink some water, maybe catch a snack, or read a paragraph or two out of an inspirational book. The rest of the time I did some extra prep work to help things go more smoothly. I'm thinking I might just bring the laptop home altogether. Maybe it is more a distraction than useful while I'm there. I learned a long time ago not to bring regular books to work- it's too easy to get sucked in! I guess the positive change I'm working on right now, is learning not to waste time.
Has anybody else made any little changes recently? :)
