You say 'after direct introduction', so I inferred there is a 'before direct introduction'.

Everybody kind of 'experiences' the ground of being continuously since all that may appear as something or nothing is the self-appearance of this atemporal and non-personal awareness and thus is kind of 'pervaded' by it. What is called "direct introduction" is merely its self-introduction in and as itself like presenting itself in a space-like mirror to a space-like observer. This introduction happens by chance and can be mediated by any phenomenon - a sound, a shout, a sudden shock whatever. The only prerequisite for "direct introduction" to happen is familiarity with the conceptually appropriate view.
So yes, everybody not having been directly introduced yet is [in a temporal sense] 'before direct introduction'. And once 'direct introduction' has happened authentically, i.e. non-conceptually, empty of thought and intuition, distraction is impossible since what has been spontaneously present from the outset has just been made self-aware in and as itself without there being any object or subject. The expression 'distraction is impossible' is appropriate because the difference between 'being distracted' and 'not being distracted' has vanished. This has been called 'Ordinary mind is deprived of its own sphere'.

For the individual there is no change at all. No insight and therefore no 'before insight' and no 'after insight'. No realization, no attainment. No conduct 'after' and 'before'. Logical thinking is still logical thinking. Rationality is still rationality and irrationality still irrationality. It is just that 'Ordinary mind is deprived of its own sphere'. Linguistic expressions still are linguistic expressions and still may be appropriate or inappropriate in a given context although as forms and sounds they are empty of meaning from the outset.

Ok, so there is a before and after direct introduction, which I gather is what I have referred to as a direct encounter. This is most commonly referred to as a realisation due to a rather sudden, well, realisation, oh that.

I find your description of a space like mirror quite apt. Indeed, there seems no reason or cause for such an encounter, which have called it 'a fortunate accident' in the past. The basic difference is one minute a person isn't conscious of it, then they are, hence it is referred to as self-realisation.
