Squirrels

The squirrels in my attic will soon have to find a new place to be...workers are coming in Monday to put in insulation ...and fix up some things. No hard feelings Squirrels...

I've been "charged" by squirrels as odd as that'll sound.

There was this squirrel when visiting relatives in Vancouver that would continually charge down his tree - and when I say charge if a squirrel ever took to stomping its feet then that is what this one was doing - from the safety of the branches and start chattering at me every single time I went by. It just didn't stop any old place but exactly at eye or cheek level if I was to go and stand beside the tree. It'd ignore my cousin, my aunt & uncle, & ignore the dogs. But the moment it saw me then down it came.

I couldn't very well stop and say sorry can't understand 'squirrel' but the one time I did tell it to quit that [stop chattering] it stopped... and stared. One of the oddest things I've seen.


There's a "grey" squirrel in the neighborhood I've been meaning to get a photo of one day. Runs the gauntlet of the fence every morning. I put grey in quotes cause it is actually a black phase grey with a red tail.

Where I live there is a humane wildlife control company that does things like remove animals such as squirrels, racoons, bats etc. that are living in people's houses or garages. Is that a possible option for you?? And by humane I mean remove and transplant somewhere new in the wild.

I had a funny experience with squirrels that makes me laugh every time I think about it. It's one of my favorite stories and it's also true.

Every year after thanksgiving, I put the leftover mixed nuts out to the curb for the squirrels so that they can add to their winter storage.

One day I was coming up my driveway, and see these things on my front steps... As I get closer, I see that they are the Brazil nuts, (the blackish shell nuts that are hard to open). there were 3 or 4 of them left on my stoop. I started laughing because the nuts were originally down the end of the driveway. The squirrels returned them because they didn't care for them. LOL still makes me laugh.

I do think there are companies like that who do it. We have attempted to trap them and set them free. You have to let them loose at least 5 miles (I would go 10 lol) because they can find their way back. The guys working on my house said they will shoo them out and once the insulation is put in, they will not come into that because it's 14" of it and it bothers their respiratory system. Then they will block the opening. One squirrel dropped a walnut on one worker as he was working near the opening.
