Have had the experience only a few times; smell of flowers or perfume, a certain fruit - also that burnt wire smell, or butane. Just really wanted to say thanks for sharing - had never heard someone describe mystery BO before; somehow that thought with my morning coffee hit me as really, really funny. So intimate! Ha ha. A nice chuckle to start the day with.

From my upbringing: Roses and fresh flowers, always the blessed Mother Mary

I cant say I am attuned to much other smells. More of a feeler.

Ever smell something/someone grotesque and fowel? Not a good energy. I forget which religion/culture emphasis this, but clutter/mess harbors negative energy/spirits. I know a lot of the Spanish old tale wives believed in this.

Between the farmer's silage pile/slurry tank (which are only a quarter mile away!) and the occasional astral dog who identifies him/herself by scent....my life, smell-wise, isn't a bed of roses!
(My own dog smells okay by the way -just as she always did when she lived here.)

But I have smelled beautiful fresh flowers upstairs once when I was decorating a room, and all I could smell physically was overpowering fresh paint and floor varnish. That beautiful sweet scent lingered for a few minutes. It seemed almost to have a touch of humour in it, given the circumstances, and came on the flow of a lovely visit from a dear one.

And sweet Jasmine once in the fields in the middle of a grey day in winter, miles away from any dwellings or people.

I don't recall ever having smelled anything supernatually foul. But I have heard sometimes that can happen with certain 'dense' energies present, or those who don't have our best interests in mind.

It definitely happens. When my grandmother came to me in a visitation dream, I could smell her perfume after I woke up and there was absolutely no logical reason it could've been there.

Also, shortly after my aunt passed, she came to visit me at work of all places and I could smell her smell for a good half-hour, again with no logical reason why it was there.

Once, a relation of my x-husband's passed away. We did not know her very well, but liked her a lot. She was hippy-dippy and carefree - a real bohemian - the opposite of her own husband who was our more direct relation, but who was also a crochety old man who had burned us in business - really a mean (not just passive, deliberately mean and not just to us) cold fish, though of course I have compassion for him and understand why. Anyway, long story - but when we heard the news, we wondered if we should call the codger and offer our condolences (and likley endure his cold, indifferent or possibly abusive demeaner) or... just skip it. We went outside to ponder our moral obligation over a cigarette. While we were talking about it, this intense smell of perfume - or flowers - came over both of us. It was so strong! This was dead of winter in Denver with snow on the ground and not a flower in sight since months. I said suddenly, "That must be Jan! She wants us to call him." So we did, even though it was awkward as Hell, and you know what? It was the right thing to do. He was touched, and so were we.
