Yes. I felt it and saw it last night, rising up in the rather heavy mists behind a naked tree a couple houses away. It was beautiful. I dreamed so much more last night than I usually do - at least I remembered some of the details. It's been a long while since I even felt that I dreamed (well - insomnia very bad for the past few months - getting better now).

I wasn't going to bother looking at the moon. I too was very tired and it was cold out. But it shone into the corner of my eye, through the blinds, drawing me outside like a magnet.

Geminid meteor shower: Observations

I only stepped out onto my balcony for 10-15 minutes. Too cold, the moon. But bright like a false dawn making the bird song loud and what caught my attention was a frantic exchange. Looking up into the SouthWestern sky (left of the pearly orb) was the crescent star, large, and glimmering furiously. I calculated the curve of the crescent around the tip of the index finger, roughly 24" from the tip of the nose.

So how can this be?
I can only guess using Einstein's observable laws, ie the curvature of space causing the light from the star to bend.
Imagining a shooting star with a tail like a comet that has a curve of an index finger tip - spin, and the star shimmers half way on the arc.
Speed and distance of the star take on a tangible dimension. The star has the appearance of moving slower through space because it's proximity has to be closer than the other stars, and in phase with Earth and the Moon <shrug>.

I only saw one Geminid. A fiery orange boulder, so massive it caused me to crink my neck ;D. And here's the mindblower. It sped skyward, from the horizon upward, so did not act as a regular meteor! A bank of heavy mist on the NW horizon, the source direction of the Geminid, had one definite trail of cloud. I can then surmise that the meteors on this side of the planet Earth were speeding by far too fast to be seen with the naked eye. I was lucky to catch sight of the one.

Within the hour I was able to see from inside that the last of the night sky had clouded over with the heavy mist, and the moon hidden as it set.

One other thing had crossed the sky, of which I'll keep for another time.

^ Interesting observations, Kine

Gorgeous moon last night. Gave it a little praise.
For me, I was very tired. I slept a lot, like a baby!
