I have no control over the "suffering". It is allowed by God, and like everything else has its purpose and meaning. Reasonable sufferings are needed for the growth of your soul.
Jesus for example suffered and showed with His personal example how to deal with it when it comes. Logically, if Jesus suffered what makes us so special that we should not suffer? Did Jesus avoid it? He could have, but he didn't.
It is allowed by God, and like everything else has its meaning.

(I know many people want no sufferings at all. They want only happiness, food, eating, drinking and entertainment. That is possible, but only temporary.)

(Women don't have the right to drive a car in Saudi Arabia. They need a male escort to take a walk. Up until recently there was no limit on age how young a girl can be married in Saudi Arabia, Iran, and probably other muslim countries as well. Girls 12 years or younger are often forced to marry much older men in many muslim countries. Why those souls chose a life in a female body in women oppressive countries if the soul can chose its family?
Would you like to be born a woman in any of the above mentioned countries where your parents will choose who your husband will be, where you cannot leave your house alone without escort? (There is no way I would choose such a country and family to be born and most of the people I know wouldn't either.)

It may be that they want to explore the experience of being a woman w/ restricted rights or being in poverty. Some may do so to be human or women's’ rights activists in these oppressed regions.

This assumes that those who incarnate here are going for what we would see as the easiest placement as the ‘best families.’ Not sure what ‘best’ means. Financially secure families or ones that are healthy about their relationships (or both).
