how they are obtained
I love crystals. have a small collection- about a dozen. I am kind of hesitant to buy them, because part of me keeps thinking of them being mined out of the ground and it bothers me. I guess I kind of feel like it would be different if it were something I found verses bought. any feelings on this? :)

They have to be mined for us to attain them either way. If we weren't meant to attain them they would be hidden in places that we cannot go. But if you believe in crystals being meant for us to work with them then that means that we are meant to do what we need to do to get them out of the ground. That doesn't mean you have to support the miners that are destructive to the Earth and take more than they give. There are plenty of miners like that they pretty much strip the ground for all of it's treasures, leave huge gaping holes that harm the environment, or use hazardous elements to get the rocks out of the ground. But there are also environmental wary miners who always make sure they give back for everything they take.

I do believe we were meant to use them. I keep one in my pocket everyday. I have amethyst and red jasper on my night stand. I am a firm believer. It bothers me to think of big gaping holes though. How can I find out if they came from a responsible mine? I am not picking...I am asking for help :) generally I just walk through a little shop that I like, and sometimes they just feel "good". Your input is sincerely appreciated. :)

If you have this issue than you can take some trips into the mountains and look for rocks yourself. There is plenty of common quartz around that hasn't been mined out of anywhere. I'm sure there are others, I just can't recognize them. I have a pretty nice collection of rocks that I found, though it's not quarter as nice as the collection of crystals I bought :)

I wish Corina! :) I live in Florida- no mountains- beaches and palm trees! I would like to make a trip to the mountains, but it will probably be a while. I do find a lot of cool rocks and I do collect some of them, but crystals are another story. I wish you well :)
